Weekly Roundup #011

Bonjour! A bit late with this roundup, but that's 'cause it's been a busy one this week. Still busy on secret things up at Aards, but plenty busy in the wee hours with the Beyond Tellerrand titles, as the event is just a few weeks away!
I'm planning on 'playing' the titles, live, powered by the Teenage Engineering OP-Z sending MIDI signals to Unity, to show each speakers title design. I'm going to pipe that feed into OBS to capture the Unity window, plus adding on a GoPro live feed with realtime audio waveforms. Because the design for the titles is all a love letter to the 2000's, the camera feed itself is running a Gameboy camera shader for that authentic glitchy dithered look!
I've built a custom surround for the OP-Z in Lego too, to house the device plus have space for mounting the GoPro next to it:
I'm really exciting to make the titles like this, I'm hoping I can pull it off! Big thanks to founder of Beyond Tellerrand Mr Marc Thiele aka the nicest man on earth for letting me try it like this! Come along to the event in Düsseldorf on the 5-6th May to find out for yourself if I can pull it off!
Talking of talks, me and the whole family headed up to Manchester mid-week to see my sibling Dani and to speak at Motion North, a quarterly Animation & Motion Design event put on by Jonny Ashworth, Creative Director of Mighty Giant!
The event was great, I got to speak alongside CG sculptor extraordinaire Vimal Kerketta who's work is, simply put, incredible! The crowd was lush, the vibes were great and they kindly entertained my wonky musical intermission too!
Thanks to @thechasecreative for the video!
Thanks Manchester, you were great! And thats it from me I think, next week it's going to be even more full-steam-ahead on the BT titles as the deadline approaches!
Until next time, ta-ra ducks x

WHAT AM I WATCHING?
We're a bit late to the party (again) but just started watching Ghosts on BBC iPlayer. Such an easy watch with some British comedy greats!
There's some cracking trailers out at the minute though that I am HYPED for...
...and...
Side note... I totally didn't click that Tom Cruise's 'ramp a bike off a cliff and do a skydive' was totally real and in-camera!!
WHAT'S CAUGHT MY EYE?
They've done it again... OK GO have released another brilliantly ambitious and creatively excellent music video, this time featuring robots and mirrors! This is such a great antidote to the endless AI chat that's ever present. Human-made fun and all its imperfections:
And here's the behind-the-scenes:
